The Penn-Delco School District, located in Southeastern Pennsylvania, is about 15 miles southwest of Philadelphia. With approximately 3,250 students, the district encompasses Brookhaven and Parkside Boroughs and Aston Township. It serves kindergarten through twelfth grade via four elementary schools, a middle school, and a high school. These schools include:

● Aston Elementary School

● Coebourn Elementary School

● Parkside Elementary School

● Pennell Elementary School

● Sun Valley High School

● Northley Middle School

The Opportunity

While the Penn-Delco School District represents thousands of families, its branding as a district and for each of its schools in the district felt dated and disjointed. The school board and the district’s representatives needed something that would make both their current student body and future alumni proud to wear for years to come.

The Solution

The team of creative designers and visionaries at Iperdesign proposed a radical solution—completely overhauling the existing branding to fit the image of the district. Then, create branding for each of the schools that will ladder up to the overarching district’s design. This way, everything would feel like it was part of the same family, while still having a unique representation of that school and those students.

Building Better Branding for the Delco District and Each School on the Roster

Schools in a district need an identity. It goes on the school’s website, brochures, notebooks and folders, and sports teams’ jerseys. The Penn-Delco schools already had their mascots, but their look was a bit dated and didn’t match the district’s overarching vision. The Iperdesign design team got to work with a full evaluation of the existing assets, from logos to illustrations, to get a better understanding of what each school brought to the table and how it laddered up to the overarching district design. Then, we started designing. From fonts to brand colors, monograms, and mascots, our creatives worked with school and district representatives to capture what they envisioned. From griffins that needed to be strong without being aggressive to Vikings tough enough for middle school and alligators that weren’t too scary for elementary school, we created all-original new designs to represent each school in the district. Now, students growing up in these boroughs and townships can clearly see a family of logos and mascots representing their scholastic journey, and the district can create assets and merchandise that families want to buy.
