After a first few busy weeks, where Audrey hit the ground running, we finally found some time to sit down with her and have a cup of coffee. We talked about her new job as a social media and design manager, as well as some of the things she does. We were glad to get to know our new employee better and hope you can too.
What is your role at Iperdesign?
I’m the social media and design manager at Iperdesign. I manage many of our client’s social media accounts & in general I design and curate content for use on other channels as well. I also communicate with clients and edit projects.
What are some of your current goals?
My dream for a while now has been to own my own design studio. My goal as of now is to continue building upon my experience in the design industry and to freelance for as many clients as I can. I also aspire to travel internationally and hopefully live abroad at some point!
What is one designing or coding pet peeve of yours?
As a designer, it’s difficult when clients are vague when giving feedback. Sometimes a client says they don’t like something, but don’t specify what changes they’d like to see. In these situations, it can be hard to decide how to move forward.
When you show people around Philadelphia, where do you take them?
I always take newcomers to the Art Museum! It’s my happy place and has been since I was a young girl. I often go there just to decompress and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere. Whenever a friend of mine visits, I also love taking them to Parc in Rittenhouse Square. It’s one of my favorite restaurants in the city and has amazing French food.
If you weren’t at work today what would you be doing?
Outside of work, I’m usually pretty busy designing content for my freelance clients. If I wasn’t at work today, I probably would be doing more freelance work. Or I’d be reading a book!
Music or Podcast recommendations?
Music has always been a huge part of my life, and I enjoy listening to almost every genre. There are too many artists/bands to name, but among my favorites are The Doors, Beach House, Elizabeth Grant, The Shins, Frank Ocean, and Travis Scott.
I highly recommend the podcast “The Happiness Lab.” It discusses the science of happiness in an easily digestible way, and it’s really interesting to listen in the background while I’m working.
Any hidden skills or talents?
I’m a decent cook and I love experimenting with new recipes and cuisines. Whenever I have the energy, I try to cook unique meals. I’ve also been writing since I was very young and consider myself to be a good writer!
Who is someone you admire and why?
I admire all women in leadership roles within the design industry. In college, I had the opportunity to learn from some incredible women in my classes who have instilled in me a greater desire to establish a name for myself in the design world.
Otherwise, I’ve always admired Sylvia Plath for her revolutionary work in writing, and Audrey Hepburn for her talent as an actress and creative (and I was named after her!)
If you were to write an autobiography what would the title be?
“I don’t know where I’m going, but I know I’ll get there soon”
